Annual Charity Golf Outing
Wilcox has hosted his Golf Outing at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club to raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of America in hopes of finding a cure for the disease. The Outing has expanded each year, and in 2011 we were pleased to present Maggie Maloney of the Lupus Foundation of America with a generous donation check at the event. Power Forward To Cure Lupus
Lupus has touched Chris’ family tremendously. His aunts Remonia and Brenda succumbed to the disease in August of 1991 and May of 1998, respectively. In addition, Chris’ sister Tehesia was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) when she was a 17 year old high school senior. Because of this, Chris
does what he can to create and support ongoing efforts to fund Lupus research.
JULY 8th - 12th at Whiteville High School
8:30AM - 1:00PM
Since 2002, Wilcox has sponsored several hundred youth annually to participate in his basketball camp at his hometown Whiteville High School in North Carolina.
For St. Clair Shores, MI resident Michelle ‘Mickey’ Wynn, Christmas came two months early. Earlier this year, Mickey was told by St. Clair Shores officials that she would be evicted from her home if she didn’t have her home’s roof replaced. After having only $300 left from her disability check after paying her mortgage, a new roof seemed unlikely.
It never occurred to NBA Power Forward Chris Wilcox that at the young age of 29 he could be facing a life threatening heart condition. The frightening news came in March 2012, in the midst of a solid basketball season for Wilcox who was leading the Boston Celtics in field goal percentage and averaging 17.2 minutes per game.
"Did I really want to die playing basketball?" Wilcox said. "I had never had surgery in my life...I was more so scared."
In Seattle, Oklahoma City, and for the past three years in his hometown of Whiteville, North Carolina, Wilcox gave away 540 turkeys the week of Thanksgiving to families in need.
Holiday Party & Toy Give-a-way
In Seattle and Oklahoma City, Wilcox, with the help of a couple teammates and Santa Claus, hosted a holiday party and toy give-a-way for over 100 kids from the Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, and City Recreation Centers.
